Background (from her website) Lorraine has over 30 years of experience and dedication to public service for the State of Hawaii in the elected positions of Hawaii State Senator, Mayor of Hawaii County, and a member of the Hawaii County Council. Lorraine also has vast experience in the private sector as president of a small business and has served on and chaired many committees over the years. In 1990, Lorraine became Mayor of Hawaii County where she stayed in office through 1992. In 1993, she went on to become the President of Aloha Blooms, Inc., a 10-acre anthurium farm in Hilo where she is still president to this day. Lorraine served as Senator of District 1, from 1998 to 2008, where she headed many committees from economics to transportation and military affairs.

“I support all farmers. I’m a big advocate for the organic growers and I understand that we need to put some regulations in place, hopefully that I’m elected, we need to assure that regulations and controls are put in place. The department of Agriculture, funds were cut from the budget which included funds taken away for regulations on the pesticide issues as well. Let’s hope we can support the DoA, we are saying, how can we control it and we aren’t doing enough on the state level, then let’s support the department and get the regulations addressed as well as controls.”

"I think the whales and the green sea turtles should remain."

"I feel good about this election. The constituents out there are supporting me and they just want change."
