Background (from candidate website) Cynthia graduated from the University of Hawaii, and then the William S. Richardson School of Law in 1979, where she was a founding member of the Law Review. She represented the Protect Kahoolawe Ohana in federal court and was successful in stopping the United States Navy from bombing Kahoolawe and gained access to the island for the Ohana and their kupuna. She worked for years with the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii to provide free legal services to Hawaii’s low income families and children. Cynthia was elected to the State House of Representatives, Windward District in 1990, and has been overwhelmingly re-elected every two years since that time.
