Important information about

State House Representative Races

 

If you do not know your Hawaii State Senate District please enter your street name at the top right corner of this link: www.capitol.hawaii.gov

 

  • Only if there is more than one candidate from the same party in the same race, is there a primary vote on August 9th.

  • Otherwise, races with only one of each party will go straight to the General Election November 4th. 

  • All 51 House Districts Are Up for Election Every 2 Years

 

  • (19) State House Districts DO HAVE primary races and will be voted in the Primaries on August 9th: 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16, 23, 33, 36, 40, 41, 42, 43, 47, 48 and 50

 

  • (26) State House Districts do NOT have primary races and will go straight to the General Election November 4, 2014: 1, 3, 8, 10, 12, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 31, 32, 34, 35, 37, 38, 44, 45 and 51

 

  • (6) State House Districts 7, 29, 30, 39, 46 and 49 are uncontested, only one candidate means automatic election. Congratulations all uncontested candidates, you win already. 

 

  • In order to advance to the General Election, Non-Partisan (NS) candidates must either:

 

a) receive at least ten percent (10%) of the total votes cast for the office for which the person is a candidate at the Primary Election; OR 

 

b) receive a vote equal to the lowest vote received by the partisan candidate who was nominated in the Primary Election for the office.

 

  • In the General Election you can vote for candidates of different parties if you choose.
